What is placemaking?
Now that Hulked has been launched, local audiences are beginning to gain a greater knowledge and sense of ownership of their local heritage.

Hulked travelled to St Katherine’s Dock in London for a fundraising performance during the Classic Boat Festival 2024.

Technology for all ages
Soundwalks are a new experience for many people in Kent. The Hulked soundwalk launched with an open day that invited local people to simply bring themselves to The Old Brickfields.

Students launch the soundwalk
Hulked opened with a launch day that welcomed the students of Lower Halstow Primary School to The Old Brickfields.

Testing the walk
Anna & Jeremy tested the walk and had the walk tested by their peers and a group of wheelchair users to gauge accessibility.

Editing & Mastering Hulked
Anna and Jeremy edited and mixed the individual tracks created by the choir, creating their own 'linking material' and began to position the pieces along the Estuary and through The Old Brickfields at Lower Halstow.

Get Knotted Engages Young People
Anna Braithwaite visited St Margaret’s School in Gillingham meet the choir and teach them ‘Get Knotted’; a song by Jenny Thorp.

Sound harvesting
Anna Braithwaite spent a cold, bright day with a furry binaural mic as she harvested the sounds of The Old Brickfields at Lower Halstow.
Oast House Community Choir
During autumn 2023, Anna Braithwaite, Dr Jeremy Scott and musician Aidan Shepherd worked with 12 members of the Oast House Community Choir on creating new songs for the choir to sing.

Hulked at Ideas Lab
Jeremy and Anna delivered a presentation about Hulked and were invited to perform some of their material live

Hulked Screening & Performance
The completion of the Hulked movie project was marked with a celebratory performance and screening aboard the Edith May Sailing Barge.

Hulked in motion
Anna captures feild recordings aboard the Edith May barge which become part of the sound track for a 10' film called 'Hulked' made with artist Matt Rowe on the glass bottle beach at lower Halstow. Anna and Jeremy write new material inspired by their research.

Seeding the idea of Hulked
In November 2021, the Ideas Lab online programme paired business people, university researchers and independent artists to create projects based around the theme of creative heritage.
