Hulked opened with a pre-launch day that welcomed pupils from Lower Halstow Primary School to The Old Brickfields. The students had already contributed their voices, stories and songs to the creation of the Soundwalk. They seemed to have a very enjoyable experience exploring the pathways, beach and woods and listening to their work coming to life in the ears as they walked.

The children also did some mudlarking, discovering bits of old bottles, bricks, broken pottery , and created mosaic artworks in the ground by the docklands.

The children also had the opportunity to catch up with the creative team again and also meet members of Oast House Community Choir, who also wrote for and contributed to the sound walk in a variety of ways.

I like the idea of living engagement between ages and communities; people with lived experience of things passing and inspiring those that haven’t yet
