Soundwalk workshop

The creative team behind Hulked ran one-day workshop ‘How to Build a Sound Walk’ on site at Lower Halstow as part of the Electric Medway Festival.

This fun and practical workshop put attendees on the fast track towards building their own geolocated soundwalk using the ECHOES app. The participants were a diverse group of people sharing a common interest in immersive audio, digital storytelling and creative heritage. The creators of the Hulked soundwalk in Lower Halstow, Anna Braithwaite and Jeremy Scott, took participants through the steps of building their own geolocated soundwalk, using the ECHOES app.

As well as learning new skills, participants were given space to consider different approaches and hear about Anna and Jeremys’ own experiences of building the wound walk.

The workshop was held aboard the Edith May Sailing Barge, in St Margaret;s Church and outdoors around the foreshore and in The Old Brickfields.

During the workshop, participants had were able to work with relevant technology, including GarageBand/Logic Pro X, the Zoom H6 field recorder and a 3D binaural microphone.

No previous experience or equipment was required in order to maximise the inclusive impact of the workshop.

This Electric Medway Hack event was supported by Arts Council England, a collaboration with the Hulked project and is part of Medway Culture Fest 24.
