Get Knotted Engages Young People

One of the key aims of the Hulked project is to engage young people in their local heritage, but also, crucially, to expose them to ways of working creatively with new technology.

The team visited two local schools, Lower Halstow Primary School and and Holywell Primary School to meet the young students, get them involved with the project and, specifically, to teach them to sing ‘Get Knotted’; a song by Jenny Thorp.

Anna and Jeremy returned a few weeks later to record the choir during one of their after school sessions.

‘Get Knotted’ was inspired by playground songs, chants and the names of knots, and features in the ‘Brickfields’ section of the soundwalk. You can also hear the voices of the children recorded on site as they explore the soundwalk, and also
